15.05.2020 10:16:00
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine ordained a law amending a number of legislative acts. One of the changes concerns strengthening the liability for intentional damage to telecommunications networks and equipment.

According to the law №2654, if the actions of criminals led to the termination of telecom services, they have the following liabilities:
  • For the first violation — a penalty of 17,000 UAH to 51,000 UAH, or community service for up to 120 hours, or restriction of liberty for a term of one to three years.
  • For repeated violation or by prior conspiracy by a group of persons or in a generally dangerous manner — a fine of 51,000 UAH to 170,000 UAH or imprisonment for a term of three to five years.
  • If the damage caused property damage in large amounts (over UAH 17,000) or caused severe consequences — a penalty of UAH 255,000 to UAH 425,000 or imprisonment for a term of six to eight years.
Severe consequences are actions that have led to the cessation of telecommunications services to critical infrastructure.
